The Vice President of Ghana, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has assured the Komenda Traditional Area of the government’s commitment to addressing pressing development challenges in the region.
The assurance was given during a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of the Komenda Traditional Area, Okatakyie Komeh VIII, where the Chief appealed for urgent action on the stalled sugar factory, poor road conditions, and critical issues in the education sector.
The Komenda Sugar Factory, originally established in 1964, has faced decades of operational difficulties and was eventually shut down due to technical and managerial challenges.
The Vice President reaffirmed the government’s determination to address the issues and called for unity and patience as development efforts continue.
According to her, she has heard all that has been said concerning school, roads, and others urging them to have patience with them and pray that God gives them the strength to put everything in place so that they can build a better Ghana for everyone to benefit from.
The Vice President also took the opportunity to thank the chiefs and people of Komenda for their support during the 2024 general elections, which she said was instrumental in her party’s electoral success.
The Paramount Chief of Komenda, Okatakyie Komeh VIII, stressed the pressing need for employment opportunities for the youth, citing the factory’s potential to stimulate economic growth and provide sustainable livelihoods.
