Paul Adom-Otchere, former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), has been detained by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) alongside two others in connection with an ongoing investigation into a GACL revenue assurance contract.
According to the OSP, Mr. Adom-Otchere failed to meet bail conditions following his formal charge and interview on Thursday afternoon. The investigative body disclosed in a statement that he was required to present two landed properties registered in his name as surety. However, Mr. Adom-Otchere reportedly informed officials that he does not own any landed property in Ghana.
As a result, he remains in custody and has since been transferred from the OSP offices to another facility for detention until his bail conditions are met.
Mr. Adom-Otchere arrived at the OSP headquarters at approximately 2:50 p.m. on Thursday, accompanied by individuals believed to be his legal team, ahead of a scheduled 3:00 p.m. appointment. He remained inside the building for nearly four hours before being seen leaving in the company of police officers just before 7:00 p.m.
The two others detained are Otchere Kwame Baffour Awuah, Group Executive of Commercial Services at GACL, and Albert Adjetey Adjei-Laryea, CEO of Devnest Systems.
The trio is being investigated in relation to a controversial revenue assurance contract between GACL and a private firm linked to the owner of Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML).
The OSP is examining potential procurement breaches, including the award of a sole-sourced contract to a company allegedly not approved by the GACL Board.
